PMEGP Scheme: Eligibility, Loan and Subsidy Explained
PMEGP is project-led: bank credit plus a subsidy claim path. It is not a free government loan, and the subsidy rupee is never promised on this website.

A project file — not a free government loan
PMEGP is searched as “government loan with subsidy.” The accurate sentence is narrower. It is a bank-financed micro project for an eligible new manufacturing or service activity, routed through an implementing agency — KVIC, KVIB or DIC — with a subsidy component only if the agency and the bank both complete the notified claim path.
VFC Rise is a private DSA desk. We do not run PMEGP, we do not fix subsidy, and we do not lend. If the activity, own contribution or vintage does not fit, a regular machinery or working-capital file is often faster and more honest. The product page we use for a live enquiry is /msme-loans/pmegp-loan.
Who typically looks at this door
First-generation micro entrepreneurs with an eligible activity, a location the scheme can accept, and own contribution they can actually show. Category claims (special category, area) need matching certificates — not a verbal claim on the form. Education or experience papers appear when the current circular asks for them.
- New micro manufacturing or service unit as per the current activity list.
- Own contribution you can evidence — not a number invented to fill the project cost.
- A project report and vendor quotations that add up (civil, plant, and the working-capital hole on day one).
- A bank that is willing to underwrite the promoter — subsidy does not replace credit.
Subsidy is never a website promise
Subsidy rates, own-contribution rates and project-cost bands are as notified on the official KVIC / MSME portals — details change. We will not print a percentage or a rupee cap on this page as if it were guaranteed in 2026. Anyone who quotes an exact subsidy on a poster or a WhatsApp forward is selling last year’s circular, or inventing one.
Subsidy is not cash in the pocket on sanction day. The bank still underwrites. The agency still has a process. Inflated machinery quotes are a common rejection reason — the file looks like a claim, not a unit.
KVIC, KVIB or DIC is not optional
The implementing agency is part of the path, not a stamp you collect later. Activity lists differ from a regular MSME term-loan conversation. If the activity is not on the current list, stop. Do not build a theatre file. Open a regular machinery or WC conversation instead.
When a regular MSME loan is more honest
A running unit with GST and banking that needs stock or a CNC is usually not PMEGP. CGTMSE-style cover is a different architecture — guarantee, not subsidy. Mixing the two names on one enquiry wastes a month. If you are unsure which door fits, start from /msme-loans/pmegp-loan and say whether the unit already exists.
PMEGP loan and subsidy — a project door, not a grant ATM
PMEGP scheme is government loan for a new micro project in the sense that a bank still underwrites and a subsidy may follow KVIC / KVIB / DIC rules. KVIC loan for new business pitches that skip own contribution PMEGP and the activity list are slogans. PMEGP 2026 percentages belong on the official e-portal, not here.
PMEGP application process — bank plus agency
- Project report, activity not excluded, own contribution as notified.
- Apply as the live PMEGP e-portal / sponsoring agency instructs.
- Bank appraises; subsidy, if any, is not a website clock.
- A running GST shop needing stock is usually a regular MSME file, not PMEGP theatre.
What VFC Rise will and will not do
We will say if the unit is even a PMEGP candidate or a regular WC/term file. We do not sponsor projects as KVIC, do not release subsidy, and do not lend. If you want the product map, open /msme-loans/pmegp-loan.
Key takeaways
- PMEGP is new-micro-project architecture with bank credit and a subsidy process as notified.
- Own contribution and activity list are first gates.
- PMEGP is not CGTMSE and not a 24-hour MSME loan.
- Subsidy is never promised on this website.

Frequently asked questions
- Is the PMEGP subsidy guaranteed if I apply on this website?
- No. Subsidy is never a website promise. It depends on current scheme rules, the implementing agency (KVIC / KVIB / DIC) and the bank’s sanction and claim process. Percentages and project-cost caps are as notified on the official portals — details change. VFC Rise does not release subsidy.
- Can a five-year-old running unit take PMEGP?
- PMEGP is aimed at new micro units under current rules. A running GST firm that needs stock or a machine is usually a regular MSME term or working-capital file — sometimes CGTMSE-style — not a subsidy theatre file. We say so instead of forcing the scheme name.
- Do I receive subsidy cash in hand before the loan?
- Typical notified flow is bank finance first; subsidy follows the claim and release process of the agency and the bank. Treat subsidy as contingent, not as margin you can spend on day one.
- What is PMEGP?
- PMEGP is a bank-financed micro enterprise project with a subsidy process through KVIC, KVIB or DIC as notified. It is aimed at new eligible projects, not a five-year GST firm that wants a top-up. Subsidy is never a VFC Rise promise.
- Who is eligible for PMEGP loan and subsidy?
- Eligibility, age, income, activity list, training and own contribution are as the live KVIC / PMEGP e-portal notifies. Excluded activities stay excluded. We will not freeze a 2026 grid.
- Is PMEGP the same as CGTMSE?
- No. PMEGP vs CGTMSE: one is project-plus-subsidy architecture for a new micro unit; the other is guarantee cover on a lender’s MSME exposure. Mixing them on one enquiry wastes a month.
- When is PMEGP subsidy released?
- If released at all, it follows the implementing agency and the financing bank’s process as notified — after lock-in and verification steps those circulars describe. Not on Quick apply.
